Diana Krall, a 2 Grammy-winning jazz legend, has been mesmerizing for decades with her warm voice and virtuoso piano playing. From traditional jazz to pop, Krall has something for every music lover.
With more than 15 million records sold, two Grammy awards - ‘Best Jazz Vocal Album’ for ‘When I Look in Your Eyes’ (1999) and ‘Live In Paris’ (2001) - and a career of more than 30 years balancing between tradition and adventure, Krall knows how to captivate everyone with her warm vocal timbre and refined piano playing every time.
Canadian Krall grew up in a musical family in the 1960s and 1970s. Her father was an amateur pianist, her mother a chorister. She found her way to the piano at the age of four (!), fell in love with jazz as a teenager and was able to study at the renowned Berklee College in Boston due to her obvious talent. After her studies, she moves from LA to Toronto to end up in New York. In 1996, Krall breaks through with ‘All For You: A Dedication to the Nat King Cole Trio’, her third album. It spent no less than seventy weeks on the leading Billboard jazz charts. Three years later, she managed to capture her first Grammy with ‘When I Look Into Your Eyes’, and throughout the noughties she confirmed her status as one of the greatest contemporary jazz artists. Her career is marked by honouring grandmasters (Nat King Cole, George Gershwin on ‘Love Is Here To Stay’) and traditional genres (traditionals, Americana or ragtime on ‘Glad Rag Doll’), adventurous forays into Bossanova (‘The Look of Love’) or pop/rock (‘Wallflower’, ‘The Girl in the Other Room’) and even an album full of Christmas classics. In short, Diana Krall has something for everyone. And that expresses itself best during her fantastic and compelling live performances. Not to be missed!
