Following his triumphant success with 'NOMAD' in Brussels and Antwerp, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui returns with the iconic 'SUTRA' in 2025!

For the first time since 2018, 'SUTRA', the successful production by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui in collaboration with the Shaolin monks, is returning to Belgium. The performance is inspired by the art, power, and spirituality of the kung fu philosophy as practiced by the monks in the Shaolin temple.

For this performance, the Belgian-Moroccan choreographer draws upon the art of kung fu as a martial art, which has fascinated him since childhood. For 'SUTRA', he worked with Antony Gormley for the stage design and the Polish composer Szymon Brzóska for the live music. 'SUTRA' became a journey of cultural and social exchange. Through translations, negotiations, and lots of discussion, they succeeded in creating an artistic universe that resonated with the hearts of the audience.

'SUTRA' marked the worldwide breakthrough for Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui as an inventive and groundbreaking choreographer and artist. Since 2008, the performance has toured in nearly 40 countries and 80 cities, reaching more than 250,000 spectators.

The performance was last seen in Antwerp in 2009 and in Brussels in 2018.
